KIAST 항공안전기술원

KIAST is a specialized aviation safety institution that trains and develops aviation safety technology professionals and carries out certification, testing, research, and technology development to prevent aviation accidents.

Since its establishment in 2013, KIAST has built an integrated aviation certification system covering aircraft, air navigation safety facilities, light-sport aircraft, ultralight vehicles, and aviation security equipment. KIAST also actively provides policy support to help prevent aviation accidents before they occur through the collection, analysis, and use of aviation safety information.

Since 2017, KIAST has actively supported the development of the drone industry, an innovative growth sector, by building infrastructure, improving regulations, and supporting business growth to enhance safety and revitalize the unmanned aviation industry. KIAST is also expanding its role and scope as a specialized aviation safety institution by establishing certification systems and conducting demonstration projects in preparation for the emergence of Urban Air Mobility, UAM, which is expected to become a future mode of urban air transportation.

KIAST will continue to strengthen its big data-driven aviation accident prevention capabilities and support the development of the drone industry, thereby helping to accelerate the realization of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

In addition, KIAST will take the lead in pursuing the national goal of ensuring safer skies for the public.
